Skier dies from apparent coronary

KEYSTONE – A 67-year-old man from Virginia was pronounced dead at 4:53 p.m. Friday at Keystone Medical Center after collapsing from an apparent heart attack at the bottom of the River Run Gondola at Keystone Resort. The man had been skiing at Keystone Resort.

Resort personnel responded on the scene and provided basic life support until Summit County ambulance arrived and then transported the man to Keystone Medical Center. The official cause of death is pending.

“On behalf of the Keystone Resort family, we offer our sympathy to his family and friends,” said Hank Thiess, vice president of mountain operations.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
