A small fire broke out in a home on Burgundy Circle in the Wildernest neighborhood of Silverthorne Thursday evening shortly before 6, according to Steve Lipsher, spokesman for Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue.

Smoke pushing out from a crawl space in the home was quickly contained by firemen, but responding crews spent “the better part of an hour pulling off siding, drywall and insulation to ensure that the fire was out,” Lipsher said.

The origin of the fire is believed to be from an electrical malfunction, according to Lipsher.

The homeowner was working with a technician in the home when the fire began, Lipsher said.

Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue responded to the incident with two crews, according to initial incident reports.

Burgundy Circle was closed at Poplar Circle for one hour while authorities contained the fire.
