Small sales tax increase will help people attain housing in Summit County

We all know that affordable housing in Summit County is scarce. A large percentage of Summit County workers spend more than 50 percent of their income on housing.

A yes vote for Summit County ballot questions 5a and 5b on Nov. 5 will provide a steady stream of funding to the Summit Combined Housing Authority to address these issues.

For only 5 cents on a $10 purchase, this .05 percent sales tax will go a long way to helping first-time homebuyers realize their dream of homeownership.

In the past, the Summit Housing Authority has relied on grants and donations for funding. Grants are difficult to obtain if the organization is unable to prove that they have a steady income source.

This small sales tax not only will aid the Summit Housing Authority by providing a steady income source, but also it will improve the chances of it obtaining much needed grants in the future.

Please, vote Yes on 5a and 5b and make a meaningful contribution to our community.
