Smiles for Life raises money for Summit County youth nonprofits
September 26, 2012
On Tuesday, local youth organizations Summit County Youth and SOS Outreach both received checks from Dr. Curtis Slack of Ridge Street Dental, courtesy of the Smiles for Life Campaign.
The campaign is a national initiative in which participating dentists donate all proceeds from teeth-whitening procedures performed from April through June to children’s charities. The program has raised about $30 million nationwide over the last 15 years, Slack said.
SOS – a nonprofit that builds character in youth through the outdoors – received about $500, and will get a matching grant from The North Face in Breckenridge, which is doubling donations to the organization through Oct. 20. Summit County Youth – a nonprofit that allows students to explore moral and spiritual matters while helping them gain a strong base of peers – received $700.
