Snowboarder dies at Winter Park Resort

WINTER PARK – A 17-year-old boy from Texas died Tuesday after hitting a tree while snowboarding at Winter Park Resort.The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m., the resort said in a statement. A Flight for Life helicopter was called, but the teenager was pronounced dead before being lifted off the mountain.The snowboarder was riding with friends and was not wearing a helmet, Winter Park said.A message left Tuesday night for the Grant County coroner was not returned.
