BRECKENRIDGE – Todd M. Dunkel, a 27-year-old snowboarder from Federal Heights, Colo., has been identified as the man found dead at the Breckenridge ski area Wednesday. X-rays showed Dunkel had a broken neck.

According to the Summit County Coroner’s report, the man’s body was found by Breckenridge ski patrollers at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as they were doing their final sweep of the mountain. He was located at the intersection of 4’Oclock and Saw Mill ski runs – both intermediate trails on Peak 8. Ski patrollers tried to revive Dunkel before determining he was deceased.

Dunkel was originally from Iowa and had been in Colorado at least six months.
