Snowmobiler hopes Silverthorne backs off ordinance banning snowmobiling

As a resident of the Denver area, I have been through Silverthorne many times in the winter and summer and stopped to buy gas, fast food and groceries on the way to snowmobile or camp in surrounding areas.

I am appalled the town council would even consider banning snowmobiles in Silverthorne because of one accident involving a drunken snowmobiler. That person should be made to pay for what they did, not the rest of us.

Using simple logic, shouldn’t motorcycles, bicycles, car and trucks be banned also on town streets and trails when a drunken driver hits something. Why punish everyone for the stupidity of one snowmobiler.

I suspect the councilmembers are biased against snowmobilers in general and see a chance to close a little more area to the overwhelming majority of snowmobilers who are safe, responsible riders and enjoy the sport with their spouses and children.

I hope the town council does not pass this ordinance, which would discriminate against safe riders.
