So long Red Rock Gym; it was a great run

The Koegels, Mesa Cortina

After two-and-a-half years in business, the Red Mountain Rock Gym in Silverthorne has closed. Anyone who has visited this facility knows what a great loss to our community the closing of this venue is.Hundreds of local and visiting children got to celebrate birthdays while experiencing one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.Local climbers from as far as Steamboat Springs and Edwards would come every week to hone their skills and make new friends. We will always remember Evan Wolfson swinging from the ropes and “sending” climbs shortly after learning to walk. And, how many establishments in Summit County are still pet-friendly?Well, your furry belay buddy was always welcome at Red Mountain. Red Mountain Rock Gym was the only family-oriented place where adults could still hear great music, get a workout, meet friends and/or just hang out and climb.Summit County is a tough place to make it, as many local business folks know. You gave it a heck of a shot, Janet and Mike. It was a great run and we all thank you and wish you the best for the future! See you at the crags.
