Keystone Resort opened Friday, Nov. 6 for the 2015-16 season with more than 1,600 vertical feet of intermediate terrain on Spring Dipper. Early risers were in line prior to the River Run Gondola opening at 9 a.m. and were treated to 4 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, and 12 inches of new snow in the past 48 hours.

The first cabin was dedicated to Bill Bergman and his extended family, in honor of Keystone Resort co-founder Jane Bergman, who passed away this fall. Bergman and his family loaded the ‘Bergman Cabin,’ a special gondola cabin that was dedicated to Bill and Jane in 2012. Bill and Jane co-founded Keystone along with Max and Edna Dercum.

The “first chair” went to a group of dedicated skiers and riders who waited in line throughout the night, and were rewarded with the first turns of the season at Keystone.
