Members of the Ellis family perch on a knot of brightly colored tubes, which teeters on the edge of a ribbon of white before taking off with a push and a whoosh on its way to the bottom. Peals of laughter echo through the sunny morning air as the next group of daredevils queues up for a turn.

The scene at Keystone Resort is familiar throughout the winter, but likely not one you’d expect to see in August. Yet high atop Dercum Mountain, among the hiking and biking trails, a little piece of winter remains for those who long for snow.

The Adventure Point Tubing hill is nearing the end of its longest-ever tubing season and will remain open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 8, as long as the weather holds. The cost is $31 per person, per hour, with the last group launching at 1:30 p.m., or combine your tubing with lunch for $41 per person and receive a $15 voucher to dine at the Summit House.

Adventure Point is located at the top of the River Run Gondola. For more details or to make a reservation, visit http://www.keystoneresort.com or call (970) 496-3000.
