Solution for slow drivers is more scenic pullovers

Re: the July 18 story headlined “Slow drivers becoming enemy No. 1?”

I have spent the last six summers in Breckenridge. I am a fairly fast, competent driver. However, 5 mph over the speed limit on Swan Mountain Road or on town streets is as fast as I can safely handle my Yukon.

Unfortunately, local drivers see my Florida plates and try pushing me faster by tailgating way too close.

Our sheriff’s “solution” seems to encourage the unsafe disregard for speed limits, illegal passing, running through stop signs, tailgating, etc., that is the norm in Summit County.

Every tourist is not our enemy. We should have about 10 more scenic pullover areas to allow tourists to enjoy this county safely, and to keep them coming.

How many people are killed each year by gapers versus speeders?
