Solutions needed for real problems

While a gentleman was checking in recently, he was reading the front page of the Daily that was on the counter. The front page was headlined by the Parade of Homes story about the town removing all the signs. He looks up and said, “Breckenridge is worse than Boulder. Why can’t they work on solving some of the real problems? One of the reasons we come up here is to get away from this kind of petty nonsense.”So I had to ask. What problems? His answer was quick and to the point.”Drunks rule the streets at 2 a.m. Motorcycles make walking down Main Street impossible every weekend. And parking for any guest visiting Breck is a total nightmare.”One man’s opinion. But it’s shared by how many others? And at what point do these folks start looking for someplace else to spend their time and money?I was pleased to see the town council inject some common sense into the sign issue. But there must be someone in the ranks of the leadership in our fair town that says, “We gotta stop this. We’re killing ourselves.” And then maybe, just maybe, look at solutions for solving real problems.
