Somebody already has used weapons of mass destruction

Ed BilleaudBreckenridge

I won’t bother to correct the factual errors in Chuck Abrams’ Feb. 23 letter defending the Bush administration’s use of military force. Those who believe pre-emptive war is justified, whether Jihadist Muslim or Conservative Christian American, are rarely inclined to change their views, and both sides claim the “truth” as their own, and bend it to suit their purposes. But I would remind readers that weapons of mass destruction, nuclear bombs in fact, have been used not once, but twice, against innocent civilian women and children – “noncombatants” in modern parlance. They died just the same, though. So, with that in mind, as regards his comments thereupon, and those relating to Ward Churchill, I would offer the quotes: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”; “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”; and “Before you criticize your neighbor for the splinter in his eye, remove the log from your own.”
