SOS summer program registration Sunday

SPECIAL TO THE DAILY

Looking for something for your youth to do this summer that will not only develop their character but will get them outside and having fun? Then come to the SOS office at 110 Third Ave. in Frisco on Sunday at 4 p.m. to register for our summer programs.

SOS Outreach has had successful winter programs for the past 10 years in Summit County and will now be offering a summer program with the same great curriculum to get youth involved during the summer months. The program is available for youth ages 8-18. Our goal as SOS staff has been to work toward offering year-round programs for the youth. We are looking forward to serving local youth this summer and making that goal more of a realization. SOS executive director, Arn Menconi, expressed, “I am excited to see summer programs take shape here in Summit after witnessing the success of its winter programs. We want to offer year-round programming for youth in Colorado in hopes of further building their character and multiplying the time they spend outdoors.”

Summer will be packed with lots of fun activities like hiking, rock climbing, gardening, sailing, camping, and Woodward. SOS youth also are an active part of their community and will be participating in great service projects with the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District and helping with community dinners at the Elks Lodge in Silverthorne. Youth will stay focused on the 5 core values that drives the winter program; courage, discipline, integrity, wisdom, and compassion. They will explore these words while developing leadership skills and confidence through outdoor adventures and community-service projects.
