Spay Day USA is today
Feb. 27 is Spay Day USA. Despite efforts by animal welfare professionals, there are still too many pets and not enough homes. WeCARe member agencies will be sponsoring programs throughout February and March that will provide pet owners assistance in finding affordable spay/neuter services. In communities across the Western Slope, clinics will be offering vouchers, discounts and rebates to make pet sterilization services affordable for those who might not otherwise spay or neuter their pets. In Summit County, a $50 voucher can be picked up at the Summit County Animal Shelter Monday through Saturday. The voucher, provided by the League for Animals and People of the Summit, can be used at any participating veterinarian. LAPS also will provide funds to people with limited income to be used for sterilization with approval and applications in advance. For assistance in locating a participating agency in your area, visit the WeCARe website at http://www.freewebs.com/wecare1/memberagencies.htm, or contact the Summit County Animal Shelter at (970) 668-3230.
