Special Olympics winter games held at Copper this weekend

COPPER MOUNTAIN – Copper Mountain Resort will host nearly 550 athletes from around the state Feb. 27-28 during the 27th annual Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) Winter Games. The event provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Participants are 8 years of age and older. The event, held at Copper for 15 years, gives participants opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sports with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.The Games include alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, snowshoeing and snowboarding.
