2010 Teva Mountain Games event registration open
The Teva Mountain Games, the nation’s largest outdoor adventure event, will return to Vail June 3- 6 for its ninth-annual running and is open for registration.
After record attendance in 2009, the Games will add two new stand-up-paddling (SUP) competitions to the roster, along with the return of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup, which hosts world-renowned climbers at the only World Cup Bouldering event on U.S. soil.
The first of the new SUP events will be the raucous First Ascent SUP surf sprint in which competitors paddle 3 miles down the icy runoff waters of Gore Creek, navigating drops, low bridges and Class III rapids. The sprint starts in East Vail and concludes in Vail Village.
The second new SUP competition, the First Ascent SUP surf cross is mirrored after a classic boarder or skier cross, beginning at the Covered Bridge and ending 300 yards down river at the International Bridge in Vail Village.
The Teva Mountain Games also include kayaking, rafting, mountain biking, road cycling, World Cup Bouldering, amateur climbing, fly-fishing, Stand Up Paddling, trail running and a half marathon.
In addition to competitive adventure sports, the Teva Mountain Games also include a photography competition, interactive exhibition and demo area, DockDog canine competitions, the Serac Adventure Film School, an interactive family area, free concerts and mountain lifestyle parties.
Registration for the Teva Mountain Games is open at http://www.tevamountaingames.com and early registration is encouraged as many of the competitions fill up quickly.
