Colorado Avalanche Info Center weather forecasts go daily on Thursday

The return of snowfall, inherently, means the return of avalanches here in Summit County and the rest of Colorado, and this winter the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) will resume daily weather forecasts on Thursday.

This winter’s daily CAIC weather forecasts will include a pair of zone backcountry weather forecasts twice daily, to be posted on the CAIC’s website by 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The CAIC will also issue statewide avalanche forecasts each Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday, by 3 p.m. daily. The CAIC also adds that it will update its site more frequently, as conditions warrant.

As for the CAIC’s zone backcountry avalanche forecasts, they will begin in mid-November.
