Lee Likes mountain bike clinics come to Frisco Sept. 10 and 17

It's never too late to find your MTB legs.

On Sept. 10 and 17, the Frisco Adventure Park bike park will host a round of Lee Likes Bikes clinics. There will be two beginner/intermediate mountain biking clinics on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. These clinics are two hours long. The series wraps up on Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. with a four-hour advanced skills mountain biking clinic.

Lee Likes Bikes coaches will use the surrounding terrain, as well as the Frisco Bike Park, to teach mountain bikers how to ride safer, faster and more confidently. What's this mean for you? More fun on the trail, no matter what season.

These clinics focus on a handful of essential dynamics, rather than spending time teaching nifty little tricks like hopping on a rear wheel. These core skills build the confidence you need for more control and speed in any riding situation. These core skills are the groundwork for just about every riding skill (including those wheelie hops), and that means MTBers get what they want out of their riding. Once riders learn the core movement patterns, higher-level riding is simply a matter of combining simple movements.

Lee McCormack, who has been a devoted rider and communicator for more than 25 years, has personally taught thousands of riders of all levels and styles, including more than 1,000 National Interscholastic Cycling Association coaches who now teach more than 5,000 high school MTB racers. McCormack's skills and training books have reached more than 100,000 riders worldwide, and top cross-country, downhill, enduro, BMX and XTERRA racers are faster thanks to the clinics.

Lee Likes Bikes clinics are regularly taught at Boulder's Valmont Bike Park. This marks the first time the clinics have come to Frisco.

"The Frisco Bike Park and surrounding terrain are incredible petri dishes for teaching mountain biking skills, and after a summer of riding, folks are ready to take it to the next level so they can do some harder fall riding in Fruita (or) get ready for winter biking," said Brian Donner, the recreation operations manager at the Frisco Adventure Park. "I've heard folks say that they have learned more in a few hours in Lee Likes Bikes clinics than in multi-day clinics."

The Level 1 clinic on Sept. 10 has two sessions: one from 10 a.m. to noon and one from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Each session is limited to eight participants and costs $75. The Level 2 clinic on Sept. 17 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m is limited to 10 participants. This session has two coaches and costs $150.
