Photos and video of the Special Olympics State Winter Games at Copper Mountain Resort
Two hundred athletes braved this past weekend’s stormy weather at Copper Mountain Resort to compete in the 2019 Special Olympics Colorado State Winter Games on Saturday and Sunday.
The games began after “The Flame of Hope” was lit by the Special Olympics Unified Pair of Mackenzie and Enzo, commencing the annual event that features cross-country skiing, snowboarding, Alpine skiing and snowshoeing competitions.
Along with the Summit County Tigers, the 2019 State Winter Games featured the following teams: Adams 12 Eagles Nordic, Adams 12 Eagles Ski, Cherry Creek Alpine Racing Team, Cherry Creek Nordic, Clear Creek Lightning, DDRC Alpine Skiing, DPR Plowing Penguins, DPR Sharks, Grand County Blizzards NSCD, Mighty Snow Alpacas, North Metro, Team Sundermann, Trailblazers Alpine Ski Team, Boulder Expand Alpine, Eldora Mountain Snowboard Club, Team Kral, Colorado Carribou, Grizzlies, Maximum Velocity, Pikes Peak Shredders, Challenge Aspen, Steamboat Stars, Team Pagosa Springs, Team Powderhorn, Telluride/San Juan Alpine, Vail Valley Dream Team, Wichita Indepenants and Taos Winter Sports.
