Squirt B’s fall to CHC on Saturday

The Summit Hockey Squirt B’s lost to the Colorado Hockey Club (CHC) on Saturday, 3-5. Both teams scored two goals in the first period; Summit’s tallies came from Peter Grotemeyer, assisted by Sam Weston, and Riley Hillis, assisted by Sean Farley. CHC scored once in the second period and held the Lightning scoreless. CHC then scored twice in the third period to ice it. The offensive lines for the Summit team consisting of Levi Ascher, Grotmeyer, Hillis, Jack Nevicosi, Dillon Ventola and Weston skated hard throughout the game, with 19 shots on goal – 9 in the third period. Grotemeyer buried his second goal of the game, unassisted with 43 seconds left on the clock, to finalize the scoring. The defensive effort was put forth by Reiker Edstrom, Farley, Blake Horan, Ben Schoeffield and goalie Hunter Marsh. The Squirts will take a break over the holidays and return to play on Jan. 7 in Pueblo.
