Summit Youth Hockey’s Mites program free this winter
Thanks to extra funds raised during last winter’s Summit Hockey Classic, first-year Summit Youth Hockey Mites players this season will skate for free and receive a free bag of equipment.
Summit Youth Hockey’s Mites program is for skaters 8-years-old or younger. The program currently has 70 Mites signed up, though there is room for more additions.
On Friday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Summit Youth Hockey will host its “Back To Hockey Night” at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Any interested hockey players and their families are welcome to attend.
The event will begin with a membership potluck meal, a gear swap and family meet-and-greet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. From 6:30-7 p.m., Summit Youth Hockey staff members, coaches and members of the board of directors will address the crowd. And then from 7-7:30 p.m., guest motivational speaker, Summit County local and former U.S. Ski Team member Jake Fiala will speak to the crowd.
The Mites program begins Nov. 5 and runs through the end of February. Practice times each week will be Mondays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Stephen C. West Ice Arena.
