Another windy day at Jeffco Stadium Saturday brought three more state qualifications to the Lady Tigers’ track and field team.

Katie Sodergren qualified in long jump (14 ft., 11 in.) and the open 800 meter run (2:33).

Sharayah Dosset qualified in discus with a 97 ft., 6 in. throw.

“(Dosset) is out best thrower,” assistant coach Darren Brungardt said. “She’s been trying to go to state ever since she was a freshman.”

Unlike competitors in warmer climates, Dosset has been relegated to practicing inside gyms and in parking lots, Brungardt said.

“She’s really come far,” he added. “She threw her guts out.”

The SHS track and field team will participate in six events at the state meet at Jeffco Stadium this Saturday.

“That’s the most we’ve had in the past few years,” Coach Kristy McClain said. “It’s a new experience for them and for us.”
