LAKEWOOD – Katie Sodergren may be out of the running in the 4A state triple jump competition, but she’s still got two individual events to look forward to when the postseason continues today at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood.Sodergren, who holds Summit High School’s triple jump record of 33 feet, 5.5 inches, fell short of her personal best Friday and was unable to qualify for event finals as a result. The senior recorded a jump of 32 feet, 1 inch.”There were girls jumping 34 and 35 feet,” SHS coach Kristy McClain said. “Katie was certainly capable (of advancing to today’s 10-athlete finals), but she would have had to have her best day. It just wasn’t there, but she gave it her all.”Sodergren will be back on the track today though, when it comes time for the long jump and 800 meter-run competitions. She is within reasonable striking distance of capturing the Tigers’ school record in both events, according to McClain.Other SHS action was provided on Friday by Julia Bishop (19th place in the 1,600 run with a time of 5:37) and the boys 8×400 relay team of Chris Rice, Zach Armstrong, Brian Joyce and Nick Adolph, which took 16th with a time of 8:39.Joining Sodergren today for Summit, will be Sharayah Dosset in discuss.
