Tigers wrestling opener called off due to wintry weather
December 1, 2005
FARMER’S KORNER – The Summit High School wrestling team’s season-opening match, a dual at Elizabeth, was called off due to weather Thursday afternoon. The match was to have taken place at 7 p.m. but the snowstorm that has stalled over Colorado’s mountains made the trip to the Front Range too risky, SHS coach Jim Melvin said.”I had the bus at the school and we were all ready to go, but the principal put the kibosh on it,” Melvin said. The Tigers’ next scheduled competition is the Panther Invite at Middle Park, set for Saturday at 9 a.m. Melvin said he’s not sure whether the team will be able to compete there, either.”We’re hoping for the best for Saturday, but we’ll see,” he said. “The weather’s gonna be crappy.”Devon O’Neil can be contacted at (970) 668-3998, ext. 13630, or at doneil@summitdaily.com.
