Spring’s the best time to ski

Summit County, CO Colorado

If you like warmer skiing and riding with plenty of snow, you’ve come to the right place. Summit County receives more than 300 inches of snow per year and boasts 300-plus days of sunshine annually.

The Boy Scout adage is the key to enjoying outdoor activities here: Always be prepared. It may feel warm enough to wear a T-shirt at the Basin, but once you ride to the peak, you’ll want a jacket to protect you from the wind and cold. For those who long to ski in shorts, beware: Snow rushing into your boots doesn’t feel good. Neither does falling with bare arms. And even if you want to return home with a Colorado tan, make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen so you don’t end up looking like a lobster. High-elevation sun is intense.
