Stace Tackaberry: Helmets just part of the uniform

I am thrilled to learn that for the 2009-10 ski season Vail Resorts, Inc. will require helmets for all on-mountain employees.

I have seen some letters to the Daily espousing “freedom of choice,” etc. Their logic is skewed. Many private firms require a uniform in order to work for them ” UPS, U.S. Post Office, construction workers (hard hats), and, yes, I was required to wear a business suit and tie for 27 years in order to do my job. Therefore Vail has every right to require a helmet as part of their employees’ uniform.
