Star gazers called to Friday event

The Blue River Group of the Sierra Club presents a Summit County Star Gazing Party after dark Friday. It is open to the public and children are welcome.It takes place at the multipurpose field at the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area.Jimmy Westlake, a Colorado Mountain College professor of natural science and an award-winning astrophotographer will introduce attendees to the wonders of the fall sky.Members of various Colorado astronomy clubs will set up a variety of telescopes for public viewing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own telescopes and binoculars.If it is cloudy or raining, the group will meet at 8 p.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Room of the County Commons near Frisco for a Westlake slideshow and lecture.For information, call Karn Stiegelmeier at (970) 468-9013.
