Steer your own boat, Beverly

Paul Hagan - Breckenridge

Beverly Gmerek owes me $8.60.  Sitting down to a breakfast quesadilla at Daylight Donuts and the paper, I lost my appetite by the first page.

Addressing Beverly’s issue is futile.  I’d rather comment, once again, on the thing that makes America what it is – personal freedom. Only one week after business owners are told it will be illegal to permit a legal activity on private property, now someone else wants to decide how a privately owned business will be able to operate.

Sometimes, Beverly, we must make a bit of a sacrifice to keep this land free. You may not always like what the human next to you is doing, but there are times, most certainly, when someone doesn’t approve of your behavior.

The right has not and cannot be given to any individual or alliance to decide how others should live. To quote a lyric by the band 311, “Do what thou will should be the whole of the law, unless you violate the rights of another. Respect the space of your sister and your brother.”

Our purpose on this planet is to row row row YOUR boat gently down the stream. Stay away from my helm!
