Steve Hornback: Thanks to Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue

Steve Hornback
Mayor of Montezuma

I would like to thank Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue for their prompt response to a fire in Montezuma late Thursday night. Due to the unusual winter conditions, severe icing had blocked the water intake to our hydrant system, which forced the firefighters to shuttle water from Keystone. These guys kept another close-by building from catching fire and braved some severe weather during their efforts. Our community is fortunate to have such a professional fire department to depend on.

Our hearts go out to Noah Landwehr and Carley Griffith and young son, Atticus, who have suffered such a severe loss. They are a wonderful family and an integral part of our town. We hope to be there for them as they put things back together. Anyone who would like to help, please call me at (970) 468-8509 and I will get all donations to the family. A general fund will be set up soon to enable all who want to help to do so.

Again a big thanks to the LDFR who faced limited resources and harsh weather in their efforts to contain the fire.
