SILVERTHORNE – The Silverthorne Police Department is looking for a man who was involved in a suspicious incident with a local teenager at a public bus stop last week.A 13-year-old female told police she was waiting for the bus at 430 Rainbow Drive on Jan. 4 when a man approached her and introduced himself as “Arturo,” then reached out his hand toward her, according to a press release from the police department.

The teen shook his outstretched hand, but the man would not let her go. He grabbed her around the waist and made some comments about a potential relationship between the two that she thought were offensive and scared her, Silverthorne Police Chief Joe Russell said. The girl pulled away and left the area to call her parents. Russell said the man didn’t try to follow her and did not threaten her.

“But it definitely scared her and his actions were frankly rude and inappropriate and that’s why we’re calling him a person of interest,” he said, adding that police hope to locate the man so they can hear his side of the story. The man is described as Hispanic, in his late 20s or 30s, 5’5″, 140 pounds with moderate pock marks on his face with a gold or silver bridge or double inlay over his front teeth. He spoke English with a heavy accent. He was last seen wearing a knit beanie hat.
