Student says not all ditched school; questions approval of schedule

Sarah Hamilton, Summit High School senior, Breckenridge

I am writing in response to the article published Nov. 24 on the front page that portrayed Summit High School Students as “ditchers.”

First of all, the problem does not lie with the students or their parents. The problem lies with the school board. If it had a feeling students were going to take advantage of the half days, why did it change our schedule? Why not just leave it alone?

Secondly, the story was biased. None of the students were asked their opinions. It seems lately we can never do anything right – even attending school.

Twenty-one percent is a small percentage of skipping students. The rest of us were there for the small portion of a pointless day.

We are good students. Don’t let that 21 percent cloud your opinion of the rest of us.
