Summer Sales Days kick off Saturday in Breck

BRECKENRIDGE – Breckenridge’s Summer Sales Days will kick off Saturday, with merchants offering seasons-end items in a sidewalk-sale format Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Merchants are reminded to comply with the town ordinance that addresses the event. The purpose of the ordinance is to preserve the character of town and prevent obstructions on town sidewalks.

The guidelines are as follows:

– Merchandise displayed must be on private property. Merchandise may be placed on commonly owned property, but the merchant must obtain written permission from the owner’s association or management group responsible for the property.

– The merchandise which is displayed must be merchandise which is actually offered for sale by the business.

– Clothing displayed outdoors must be placed on a mannequin or racks. A mannequin may include a full clothing ensemble (i.e., one shirt, one skirt, one pair of shoes, one hat, etc.).

– The merchandise must not obstruct access into the business selling it, adjacent businesses or sidewalks.

– The merchandise must be removed if it becomes a hazard due to wind or weather conditions, or if it is in a state of disrepair.

– Merchandise may be displayed only when the business that displays it is open.

– It is preferable that no boxes be used to display merchandise.

– Merchandise may not be placed in any required parking or loading spaces.

For more specifics on the ordinance, visit the town’s website at http://www.townofbreckenridge.com and click on the Town Code On Line link under Building Our Community. The ordinance is under Title 9: 09-07.
