Summer’s the season to dance in the park

FRISCO – In Asia, residents practice martial arts in the park – and they seem pretty healthy and happy – so why shouldn’t we do a little merengue, salsa, swing and tango in Frisco’s Historic Park gazebo?

Dancing in the park is the Frisco Recreation Department’s latest program. Each week, instructors will present a different dance workshop from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays at Ches’ Place in the Historic Park gazebo in Frisco. The weekly classes start Thursday, June 5, and end Thursday, Aug. 28.

It doesn’t matter if you trip over your feet or can tear it up on the dance floor – all experience levels are welcome. Each workshop costs $8. Participants should pre-register prior to each class by calling the Frisco Recreation Department at (970) 668-5276, ext. 3048.

Schedule of dances (6:30-7:30 p.m. every Thursday):

June 5: merengue

June 12: shim sham

June 19: salsa

June 26: swing

July 3: cha cha

July 10: two-step

July 17: rumba

July 24: polka
