Summit Choral Band plays Community Center today

Daily News staff report

FRISCO – If you yearn for the mellow melodies of yore (leavened with one rousing spiritual), head to the Community and Senior Center at the County Commons at 7 p.m. today for the Summit Choral Society’s free fall concert.

The program opens with a medley of big band favorites arranged for chorus, including Glenn Miller’s famed “Moonlight Serenade” and “Stompin’ at the Savoy.” Then the band performs music from the musical “The Fantasticks,” the rousing spiritual “Ain’t Got Time to Die” and a medley of Irving Berlin tunes guaranteed to get feet tapping.

This will be the last concert for Kaye Mero, the conductor and music director of the Summit Choral Society for the last three years. She is moving to Atlanta, Ga.
