On Saturday, Copper Mountain Resort holds its annual Fat Saturday celebration featuring masks, beads and N’awlins drink specials along with a Big Easy Rail Jam (registration starts at 2 p.m.; qualifiers at 4:45; $10 entrance fee) and tunes by DJ Cajun Chris. There will be a Zydeco fire performance by the Boulder fire-dancing troupe, Cosmic Fire, at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks over West Lake at 7. Info:

There is still time to sign kids up for the Winter Vacation Sensation during Summit School District’s winter break. The state-licensed program includes field trips, art projects, games and outdoor play. Slots are open Feb. 25-March 1 and April 15-19 for children ages 5-12. It’s $40/day for Frisco residents and $45/day for nonresidents. The camp runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with drop-off from 8-8:45 a.m. and pick-up from 4:30-5 p.m. at the Community Center on 3rd Avenue in downtown Frisco. There is no early drop-off or late pick-up option. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

The call for entries is open for the 33rd Annual Breckenridge Festival of Film, taking place Sept. 19-22. Independent filmmakers are invited to submit their productions for selection. The deadline is May 3. Use (WAB) or for submissions. Volunteers are also sought to help determine what films will be shown at the Breckenridge Festival of Film. The review process runs through June 19 and reviews need to entered at, not on the WAB website. Cody Wayne returns to the High Country with his traveling act, which features Wayne playing a three-hour set of “American-style music” while a local artist paints a live piece onstage. The Snowball festival, headlined by Pretty Lights, STS9 and Big Gigantic, returns to Winter Park for a third year March 8-10. The lineup also includes “Portugal. The Man,” Rubblebucket, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Tumbleweed Wanderers and Kendrick Lamar. The weekend getaway includes music, winter sports, aprs ski and after parties. Kohl’s Cares is accepting nominations through March 15 for its 2013 scholarship program. The program recognizes kids ages 6-18 who have made a positive impact on their communities. Prizes range from $50 Kohl’s gift cards to $1,000 regional scholarships and $10,000 national scholarships for higher education. Visit

The Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge is soliciting headshots and resumes for its summer 2013 shows, “Avenue Q,” “Charlotte’s Web” and “The 39 Steps.” All positions are paid.
