The Animal Assistance Foundation has awarded Summit County Animal Control and Shelter a $15,000 grant, according to a news release.

The funds will support the Summit County Paws 4 Prevention, a referral-only program that offers spay, neuter and vaccine assistance to pet owners who live or work in Summit County, the release states.

To qualify for the Paws 4 Prevention program, applicants must lack transportation, require financial assistance for their pets, undergo a home inspection, have been denied pet vaccines due to cost and have considered surrendering their pet due financial hardship.

Those who may be in need of assistance can email a brief explanation to Summit County Animal Control and Shelter director Jesslyn McGill at Jesslyn.McGill@summitCountyCO.org.
