Summit County Commissioner Tamara Pogue has been appointed to a statewide commission aiming to provide a long-term solution to rising property taxes.

Colorado House Speaker Julie McCluskie, in a Dec. 6 news release, announced Pogue as one of her appointments along with Speaker Pro Tempore Chris deGruy Kennedy and Jonathan Cappelli, an urban planner and government consultant.

The commission was created by House Bill 23B-1003, which passed during the legislature’s recent special session along with a package of bills aimed at lowering property taxes and expanding financial assistance for working families next year.

After the failure of Proposition HH, state Democrats and Gov. Jared Polis’ proposed 10-year plan for high property taxes, lawmakers formed the bipartisan commission to recommend other remedies.
