Here’s another way to spread the love this Valentine’s Day: Help our community and pay off your library late fees through this year’s Food for Fines event. With the continued economic challenges, many people are turning to our local food bank for help feeding their families and providing necessities. To help meet the demand, the Summit County Libraries will collect food and other items in place of monetary fines for overdue library materials, through Sunday. According to the Family & Intercultural Resource Center, items specifically requested are: > Diapers and/or wipes> Rice > Pasta> Canned tuna> Canned fruit> Black and pinto beans> Pasta sauce> Cereal> Granola and protein bars> Toiletries (toothbrushes, paste & deodorant)Only these requested by FIRC will be accepted at this time. Note that food cannot be used in payment for lost library materials. Share your love to help our community this year, and gain a clean slate with the library and no fines. There are no set required amounts to cover your fines – let your conscious be your guide. For info, call the main library at (970) 668-5555; visit http://www.summitcountylibraries.org or simply come by any of our locations in Frisco, Breckenridge and Silverthorne.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
