The Summit Foundation is seeking volunteers to help at our annual Great Rubber Duck Race. We are looking for middle and high school students and adults who want to have fun, help the community and gain some community service hours. Positions are available selling ducks the last week of August, helping with the race on Saturday and with sorting ducks and getting them back in their homes on Sunday. With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 coming up, the Summit Daily is looking for thoughts from our readers about their recollections of that day, what impacts it had on your life (or the lives of relatives, friends, etc.). Send your thoughts to if you’d like to have yours included in our roundup.

Advocates for Victims of Assault is starting its fall volunteer training on Sept. 19. If you are interested in working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other traumas, contact us for more info. The training is on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30 from Sept 19 – Oct. 19. Dinner will be provided. Call Lori at (970) 668-3906 if interested.

Summit County Preschool is now accepting enrollment for children 2.5 years old to turning 4 years old. Contact Kristin at (970) 668-5508 ext 28 with any questions.

Summit Habitat for Humanity is in need of volunteers to help move the ReStore to a new space which is the quonset hut in Breckenridge. There are lots of volunteer opportunities, including cleaning, moving, landscaping, you name it! The Alliance for Historical Preservation is seeking volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Arts and Crafts Show in Dillon.Show dates are Friday through Sunday. Volunteers are especially needed during the morning hours on Friday and afternoon hours on Sunday. Shifts are 2-3 hours. Call (970) 370-5726 or email AHPfrisco for further info.

Volunteers are needed to work at Oktoberfest Frisco 2011, which will take place Sept. 2 from 6-10 p.m. and Sept. 3 Sept. 4, from noon to 4 p.m at the Frisco Adventure Park. Pour beer, sell tickets, direct parking or anything in-between. For a four-hour shift, receive an Oktoberfest Frisco T-shirt, beer ticket and meal ticket for your favorite German food. The Summit Choral Society is a community chorus looking for both men and women singers. We rehearse on Monday evenings, excluding holidays, 7-9 p.m., at Agape Outpost, 15404 Highway 9, Breckenridge.
