Friends of the Dillon Ranger District is partnering with the volunteers of Outdoor Colorado to host a two-day overnight trail project based out of the Keystone Homestead. Volunteers will be performing trail maintenance and building several bridges along a network of heavily used trails including the Hay Trail, the Soda Creek Trail and possibly the West Aqueduct Trail. For details or to sign up, visit http://bit.ly/nNDDXx. This project will take place on Saturday and Sunday and free camping will be available Friday & Saturday evening at the Homestead. The project is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. Meals will be provided during project hours and there will be live music from the Pine Beatles for volunteers Saturday night. This is a family friendly project so bring the whole crew. Pre-registration is required for this project.
There will be a fundraiser for the Keen Family on Saturday from 6-10 p.m. at The Inn at Keystone, 23044 Highway 6. Tickets are $25 adult/$20 children under 10 years old and will be sold at the door. Checks may be made payable to the William Keen Family Memorial Fund. Additional parking is available across Hwy. 6 behind Dos Locos. Silent auction items are being accepted at Crystal Clear Auto Glass-Silverthorne, Markel Design Group-Frisco and Five Diamond Lodging-Summit Cove. The Breckenridge Oktoberfest is on Saturday and Sunday. As one of this year’s beneficiaries, the High Country Conservation Center is in charge of making Oktoberfest zero waste in exchange for a large donation to our organization. We need your help to staff the zero-waste tents and help the public compost and recycle! Please sign-up for the 2-4 p.m. and/or the 4-6 p.m. shifts.
