The Family & Intercultural Resource Center is offering two six-session parenting classes starting on Monday – Active Parenting Now for parents of children 4-12 and Active Parenting of Teens. Active Parenting Now will be Mondays, Sept. 19-Oct. 24 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Frisco Elementary. The cost is $48 per person/$72 per couple and includes dinner and childcare. Topics will cover improving communication with your children, teaching responsibility, defusing power struggles and more. Active Parenting of Teens, for parents of ‘tweens and teens will be held Thursdays, Sept. 22-Oct. 27 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Summit Middle School. Cost is $48 per person/$72 per couple and includes dinner. Topics covered will include skills for clear, honest communication, strategies to prevent risky behavior, how to be an encouraging parent and insight into teens online, bullying and depression. Have you ever wondered what steps are involved in purchasing a home? Come find out at our free homebuyer education class on Thursday from 12:30 -5 p.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the County Commons in Frisco. You will learn the basics A-Z what it takes to purchase a home, as now sure is a great time to do so! The class is free and is sponsored by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, put on by the Summit Combined Housing Authority with help from local volunteers who will walk you through the lending process, real estate transaction, title company portion and home inspection. There will also be information on current down payment assistance programs and much more. Snacks will be provided. Nationally renowned nature photographer John Fielder, will host a photography workshop on Tuesday at his home in Silverthorne. This event will include personal instruction in nature landscape photography and technique, as well as dinner prepared by Doug Schwartz, chef at the CMC Culinary School. The cost is $250/person, with all proceeds going to Domus Pacis Family Respite. The Breckenridge Resort Chamber Ambassadors are hosting the September mixer at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and in Sevens Restaurant and Bar at 1979 Ski Hill Road in Breckenridge.
