Have you ever wondered what steps are involved in purchasing a home? Come find out at our free homebuyer education class on Thursday from 12:30-5 p.m. in the Buffalo Mountain Room at the County Commons in Frisco. You will learn the basics A-Z what it takes to purchase a home, as now sure is a great time to do so! The class is free and is sponsored by the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, put on by the Summit Combined Housing Authority with help from local volunteers who will walk you through the lending process, real estate transaction, title company portion and home inspection. There will also be information on current down payment assistance programs and much more. Snacks will be provided. The Summit Fire Authority is seeking donated vehicles – in any condition, running or not – for use in critical “extrication” training at the High Country Training Center in which rescuers practice using the Jaws of Life and other tools needed to save accident victims.Donors may claim the value of their vehicles as a charitable contribution and know they are contributing to the vital training of emergency crews in the Summit Fire Authority: Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue, the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District and the Copper Mountain Fire Department. Donors must be able to push, pull, drag or drive their vehicles to the center and provide written authorization and the title to the center. The Rotary Club of Summit County will be holding its annual Summit Showdown, a world series qualifier Poker Tournament on Saturday at the Best Western, Lake Dillon Lodge in Frisco. This is a no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournament. The doors open at 1 p.m. and play will begin at 2. The winner of this tourney earns a seat at the Denver qualifier, obtaining a chance to go to Las Vegas and participate in the World Series of Poker. The cost is $60 for a seat, food and cash bar.
