The Alliance for Historical Preservation has set its first two historical town tours in Frisco for Saturday and July 3. This may be your first-ever chance to take a peek at Foote’s Rest which is on both state and national historic registers. A costumed guide will meet you at 1 p.m. behind the Frisco Information Center at 3rd & Main. Tired of winter? “Cast of Characters” is staging a colorful, spectacular, “Flowerama” to brighten your deck and grow The Lake Dillon Theatre! Fresh and direct from Denver’s Welby Gardens, beautiful patio and hanging baskets of many colors and sizes, priced right and suited to our mountain environment will await your “casting call” on the LDT “back lot” (parking lot..176 Lake Dillon Drive) today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (…or gone!) Sorry, no pre-orders this year. It’s “first-come first-served.” A $5 donation admits current “Characters” while $15 admits guests who will become “Characters” (if they wish) on the spot. Summit Huts Association is looking for volunteers to help out this spring, summer and fall with projects at Francie’s Cabin, Janet’s Cabin, Section House and Ken’s Cabin. Volunteers receive a certificate good for one night in the Hutmasters’ Quarters of any Summit hut for each day volunteered. Scheduled dates, locations and projects are: June 25 – Francie’s CabinPreseason scrub down, reorganization and general tidying of the cabin before it opens on July 1(10-12 volunteers). July 16 – Janet’s CabinPreseason scrub down, reorganization and general tidying of the cabin before it opens on July 17 (10-12 volunteers). Aug. 21 & 22 – Francie’s CabinMidseason scrub down, plus lots of firewood chopping, hauling and stacking in preparation of the winter season (10-12 volunteers). Sept. 10 & 11 – Janet’s CabinPreparation for winter season – heli re-supply, preseason clean up, firewood stacking, loading & unloading nets. Volunteers needed at staging area (Copper Mountain) and at Janet’s Cabin. Date is heli and weather dependent (15-20 volunteers). Oct. 1 – Section House & Ken’s CabinPreparation for winter season – scrub down, firewood chopping, hauling and stacking (8-10 volunteers). Space on all volunteer days is limited and you need to sign up in advance. The Summit Lake Dillon Optimist Club is having its annual golf tournament fundraiser on Monday at the River Course in Keystone. Tournament fees are $125 per golfer and include cart, driving range usage, box lunch and a gift bag. Come for a fun day of golf and help support our local club so we can support Summit County’s youth. Put a team together, sponsor a hole or advertise your business by donating a silent auction gift.
