Summit County: Habitat announces alternative giving programs

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

Habitat for Humanity is offering two opportunities to support their program during the holiday season.

First is the Wreath Project. Decorated wreathes will be sold at the Lighting of Dillon on Dec. 2 with the proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity’s building fund. Your family or your company can participate by decorating a wreath or purchasing a decorated wreath from the display at La Riva del Lago Mall on Dec 2.

Next is the “Everything – Including the Kitchen Sink” alternative gift program. Your donation can be designated to purchase anything from a kitchen sink to shingles to be used on the next Habitat build. We’ll send your recipient a Christmas or Season’s Greeting card, along with an ornament to mark the gift. Holiday shopping couldn’t be any easier.

For more info on these programs, call the Habitat office at (970) 367-5127, or stop by the Habitat ReStore during business hours – Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – at 196 Huron Road in Breck.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
