Summit County Libraries celebrate Teen Read Week

SILVERTHORNE – The Summit County Libraries would like to invite all Summit County teens, from middle school through high school, to celebrate Teen Read Week, beginning Oct. 16 and running through Oct. 22. This year’s theme is “Picture It @ Your Library,” with a variety of fun events.

To celebrate Teen Read Week, each branch of the Summit County Libraries will hold a photo scavenger hunt that will begin Oct. 1. Answer sheets will be available at each branch. There will be a poster of 12 close-up pictures of items around the library, inside and out. Each entrant will turn in an answer sheet by 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20. The prizes will be as follows: a pass to the Skyline Cinema in Dillon for the winner at each library and a $25 gift card to the Skyline Cinema for the winner of the grand prize drawing.

Finally, teens will have the opportunity to learn more about photography as a lifelong hobby through a photography workshop led by local photographer Kay Beaton of Beaton Photography, set for 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Oct. 20, at the North Branch Library, Silverthorne. In addition to announcing the winners of the scavenger hunts, there will be food, games, prizes and fun for everyone.
