Summit County Parade of Homes starts Saturday

Daily News staff report

The 18th annual Summit County Parade of Homes starts this weekend, giving residents and visitors a chance to see the pride and joy of local builders, architects, designers and artisans.

There are 20 homes from around the county on display, which include single-family, duplexes and remodels. The remodels – like one on display in Keystone with an improved entry, an additional garage bay and a larger dining room, kitchen and bedroom, among other improvements – are great examples for people to see what can be done to an existing home, said Jane Dvorak, Summit County Builders Association executive officer. The association hosts the event each year.

Proceeds from the parade go to The Summit Foundation, a local organization that provides ongoing support to dozens of charitable causes and community endeavors.

The cost for participants throughout the event – which runs Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 29 and 30 – is $10 for those 18 and over. Tickets can be purchased at the Summit County branches of Bank of the West, which will donate an additional $2 for each ticket sold. They are also available online, at City Market in Breckenridge and Dillon and at some of the parade homes.
