Suspect in custody following threat directed at Summit High School

The Summit County Sheriff's Office and Summit School District will provide more information as it becomes available, the Sheriff's Office said on social media

The Summit County Sheriff's Office said on Wedneday, Nov. 6, 2024, that it was investigating a report of a threat directed at Summit High School.

4 p.m.: The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect is in custody and there is no elevated risk to public safety.

The Sheriff’s Office said it would release more information Thursday, Nov. 7.

1:30 p.m.: The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating a report of a threat directed at Summit High School.



The Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, that it began investigating in the morning after a suspect “made threats involving a bomb and a firearm.”

Sheriff’s deputies and investigators immediately responded to the school to provide security and to work on an investigation, the post states.



At this time, there is no immediate threat to the safety of students or staff, according to the Sheriff’s Office. However, an increased law enforcement presence will remain at Summit High School throughout the day.

An investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office and Summit School District will provide more information as it becomes available, the post states.
