Summit County’s Loosey Goosey award announcements highlight apres ski group’s skill mastery

A group of Summit County seniors who call themselves the Loose Goosey Après Ski Group recently announced picks for this year’s ski awards.

The group — which meets every Thursday during ski season for an après social gathering at the Summit Community and Senior Center in Frisco to share ski stories and friendships — is in its 35th year, according to a news release.

Jim Ellis, a resident of Dillon and Pawleys Island, South Carolina, was presented with this year’s Most Improved Skier award — given in honor of Kay Christensen, a late member of the group and ski instructor.

“Over this season, Jim has made great strides in his extreme mastery of steeps and moguls,” the news release stated.

Frisco resident Brenda Alberico received the Nancy Macey Spirit Award — given in honor of late Loosey Goosey Member Nancy Macey. The award is meant for a member who best exemplifies Macey’s friendly, inclusive, helpful and tireless spirit, according to the news release.

“Brenda was recognized for her friendly, outgoing spirit and energy, her volunteer work at Loosey Goosey, the Summit Senior Center and for being a bridge instructor,” the news release stated.
