Summit Cove student wins writing contest

Kaitlyn Scott was named the first-place winner of the Let It Snow children’s writing contest in the current issue of the Great Divide Guide magazine. Scott, a fourth-grader at Summit Cove Elementary School, won a $50 gift certificate to the Stork & Bear Company.Kaitlyn’s poem is titled “The Wonder in Winter:”There is a wonder out thereCan you guess what it isIf you can’t I will give you some hintsIt’s fluffy and whiteIt feels like powder outsideInside it feels like waterIt packs in easy for making a fort or maybe a little snowmanPour water on it in the cold and it turns into a hard thingThis hard thing is slipperyYou can do a sport on both of these thingsCan you guessSnow of courseRead all of the finalists’ works in the Great Divide Guide, which is available now on news racks throughout the county.
